The Parent Portal, Explained
What parents can see and do, and how to get your parents using it.
What parents get
Every guardian with a registered account gets a personal portal showing each of their children: fee invoices and balances with downloadable receipts, published exam results and report cards, attendance status, school announcements, and, where the school runs transport, the live position of their child's bus.
No app installation needed
The parent portal is a mobile-friendly website that runs in any browser, Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Opera Mini, on any smartphone. There is nothing to download from an app store. Parents can add a shortcut to their home screen from the browser menu for one-tap access.
How parents get access
Parent accounts are created from the guardian details on each student's record. The school issues login credentials, typically the guardian's phone number or email plus a password, and parents sign in through the same portal address as staff. One account covers all children the guardian has at the school.
Messaging the school
Parents can send messages to the school through the portal, and the school can reply from the admin side. This keeps fee queries and general questions in one traceable place instead of personal phone calls to staff.
Driving adoption
Schools that get the most value announce the portal at a parents' meeting, print the portal address on invoices and report cards, and send an SMS with login instructions at the start of term. Once parents can check balances themselves, calls to the school office drop noticeably.
